Multimedia journalist based in Los Angeles, CA 

For over five years, Ashley Orona has reported on the people, policies, and issues shaping life in Los Angeles County. Her work includes explainers, investigative reporting, audio production, and social media content.

Ashley believes in the power of storytelling to inform, connect, and create change. Whether she's covering environmental justice, immigration, or local politics, she aims to produce journalism that is accurate, accessible, and deeply rooted in community. Currently, she is a reporter for Los Angeles Public Press, where she focuses on stories that spotlight the lived experiences of Angelenos and the systems that impact them.

Outside of journalism, Ashley is actively involved in civic engagement. She serves on community advisory committees to support more inclusive, community-informed public projects.

Ashley holds a master’s degree in Specialized Journalism from the University of Southern California and a bachelor’s in Political Science and Latin American Studies from UC Berkeley.
